The army jawans at the Indo-China border had more than one reason to dance and rejoice recently for they were joined by none other than the sizzling sisters Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty .The occasion was an episode of NDTV's Jai Jawan, and the stunning Shetty sisters joined the jawans at the Indo-China border. The star siblings trekked it up to Nathula Pass on the Indo-China border, but were unfortunately much the worse for wear. While boasting of tremendously fit bodies, the Shetty sisters were obviously unable to cope with the extreme temperatures and the lack of oxygen at the high altitude. Both experienced severe motion sickness, but fought through it bravely to spend eight days with the jawans.
Shilpa joined in gladly with all the festivities, literally leaping at the rare opportunity to ride a yak!All this was done after the actresses paid homage to the martyrs of the 1962 Indo-China war. While at the border, they even exchanged pleasantries with some Chinese soldiers. While language might have been a stumbling block in these brief interactions, the grins on the Chinese faces indicated that sex appeal of both Shilpa and Shamita is indeed universal. The besotted jawans watched the Shetty sisters as they grooved to hit songs on stage, and matched them -- if not step for step, but certainly in terms of sheer enthusiasm! At 14,500 feet above sea level, Shilpa and Shamita spent considerable time in conversation with the jawans, trying to get to know them.Later that day, they met heroes of a different kind -- the Animal Unit, consisting of mules that are the lifeline of soldiers high in the mountains, as they carry essential supplies up and down the steep terrain. In an age where reality television and game shows are ruling the waves, the sisters brought entertainment of a similar nature to the jawans, as they staged an impromptu talent hunt!
The jawans rose grandly to the occasion, making the most of their chance to boogie with Shilpa and Shamita. The sisters carried laddoos with them to distribute to the soldiers, but the jawans came prepared with rasgullas of their own. The sleet, the rain, the freezing temperatures, the heavy parkas they wore (in contrast with the minimal army fatigues sported by the soldiers surrounding them), the exhaustion -- nothing put a damper on the lasses' mood as they chilled with the jawans. As the sisters took centrestage, the focus remained on our brave jawans as Shilpa and Shamita read out messages from the soldiers' families -- estranged from their loved ones for months together. Both sisters admitted to being overcome by emotion, and admitted that the days with the jawans would be among their most cherished memories.
